Our beloved Lara Croft is getting a new live-action series. Stephan Lunsford, the director of this project, is teaming up Cambria Edwards, to create this mini-series.
He revealed the news through his twitter account and stated:
“I’m happy to announce that I will be creating a #TombRaider mini-series to be released with Rise of The Tomb Raider,” Lunsford writes. “This will act as a prequel to the game and eventual movie.”
He further said that they are currently in pre-production phase and more details will be shared about the progress soon.
Lunsford was a part of the recent MTV series called Teen Wolf and he’s also written and directed other short projects and YouTube commercials.
When this series was announced by Lunsford, it was believed that Crystal Dynamics will produce it while Lunsford was the director.
However, that isn’t the case at all as Crystal Dynamics has revealed that Tomb Raider mini-series is a fan-production.
Community Manager Magan Marie took to Square Enix forum to clear things up:
“Hey guys! Jumping in to clarify – this is just a fan series,” she said. “Stephen [Lunsford] and Cambria [Edwards] are huge fans of Lara and Tomb Raider and are whipping something awesome up to pay tribute. We’re happy to promote and give the project love just as we do with any other fan film!”
Moreover, Lunsford also cleared things up saying that this is not an official production of Tomb Raider. This is unofficial and “created by fans for the fans of the Tomb Raider franchise.”
