Yakuza 5 will be breaking its Japanese threshold and landing on the PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe in 2015, Sony Computer Entertainment announced at PlayStation Experience today.
The release is a result of a new partnership between Sony and Sega, which might translate into future Yakuza games also releasing in the west. The happening of Yakuza 5 was also a product of Sony’s “Building the list” campaign where the company asked its fans to submit names of titles they’d like to see come to the PlayStation 4 and Vita.
“After receiving so many requests from fans of the series, we have decided to bring Yakuza 5 to the US and Europe,” series creator Toshihiro Nagoashi said in a statement. “This title was enjoyed by over one million gamers in Japan. I’m looking forward to seeing how Yakuza 5 will be received by the gamers in the U.S. and Europe.”
Sega also announced today that Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls are available on PlayStation Network starting today.
