Bethesda Softworks will be attending The Game Awards 2014 later this week, but will only be there for support.
The studio has confirmed through its Twitter account that it has nothing special to announce at the event. Bethesda’s presence will be solely to support Machine Games’ Wolfenstein: The New Order, which has been nominated in multiple categories.
“PSA — We’re not showing anything at the Game Awards. We’ll be there to support @MachineGames,” reads the tweet.
It feels like forever that the web has been posting rumors about Bethesda secretly working on either a next-gen Fallout 4 title or a Fallout MMO. The studio has also been punctual in announcing beforehand each event throughout this time that it will not be announcing anything. In other words, don’t expect us to announce a new Fallout game.
During the then Spike Video Game Awards of 2010, Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Could the studio surprise us by making another such explosive announcement this year? We won’t have to wait long to find that out. The Game Awards 2014 happens this Friday.
In related news; Neil Druckmann, creative director of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, teased something special for The Game Awards 2014 last week.
The special announcement is presumed to be a gameplay trailer for the new installment. We’ve all heard how pretty the game is looking on the PlayStation 4. It’s time to see for ourselves as to just how pretty it is.
