Publisher Square Enix has launched a new trailer for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, called “World at War.” It delivers on exactly that note, showing off different factions of its universe going at each other from different angles.
Visuals in the trailer show a range of differences, from pristine cinematics to in-game scenes or just regular gameplay. This roleplaying game (RPG) changes the franchise’s usually more turn-based model to an active dynamic, so its world needs to reflect that.
Different regions in Final Fantasy Type-0 HD use other means to defend and attack. For instance, one nation can be seen taking to the skies with magical, flying beasts, while the other simply uses mechs for that sort of thing.
There is definitely one empire more militaristic than the other. These people are led by a stern commander, which is reflected in the territory’s generally sterile look, with some inspiration from classic warfare times.
Gameplay will follow characters directly from a third person perspective. Some clips show a party of youngsters engaging monsters with magical projectiles.
As a change of pace, the new trailer also reveals a turret section, where oncoming flying beasts have to be shot down.
At the end of the clip, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD markets itself as “a new type” of Final Fantasy. Since this is a remake of an existing PSP game that was made in 2011, it’s a bit of a bold statement.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be out on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on March 17, 2015 in North America and a few days later, on March 20, in Europe. Preorders will receive access to a demo for Final Fantasy XV.
