Chinese game publisher Tencent Games has agreed to take Orcs Must Die: Unchained under its wings and will be releasing the MOBA in China soon.
Developer Robot Entertainment was highly pleased with the new venture and said that the partnership with Tencent Games was of significance because of “China’s growing importance in the expanding global PC gaming market.”
“China is a massive and growing market, and we are thrilled to partner with the leading publisher in China, Tencent Games, to further extend our global reach,” said CEO Patrick Hudson in the announcement.
The Chinese version of Orcs Must Die: Unchained will feature an exclusive Chinese hero named Mulan. There will also be Terracotta Warrior-inspired characters, and traps modeled after the Great Wall. Robot Entertainment will also be adding more Chinese elements to the game over time.
Tencent Games is known for many popular titles but none so than League of Legends, which the company acquired in 2012. The decision allowed Riot Games to expand on their business model and make League of Legends one of the most played titles in the world right now.
Orcs Must Die: Unchained is currently in beta.
