EA has announced Need for Speed: No Limits, a new addition to the iconic racing franchise but this one however, is destined for mobile and tablet devices.
In a new EA blog post, executive producer Robert Huebner said that Need for Speed: No Limits has been created “from the ground up to deliver the insanely-fast driving and incredible graphics that fans have come to expect from Need for Speed” – on their handheld devices that is.
“The team at Firemonkeys has also been bringing Need for Speed to mobile gamers for years, and it’s an honor and a privilege to once again get behind the wheel of this incredible franchise and redefine street racing on mobile.”
The post however, does not explain how the studio plans to earn from the game. Will it adopt a free-to-play model with microtransactions available for new cars, customizations and tuning? That looks to be a fair presumption.
The game is being developed by Firemonkeys Studios, who previously have been behind Real Racing 2 (2010) and Real Racing 3 (2013). It will release at some point in 2015 for both iOS and Android devices.
A debut trailer can be watched above which incorporates the first in-game footage of Need for Speed: No Limits.
