If you have some super cool replays saved from Super Smash Bros. in your 3DS, then it’s time to say good-bye to those awesome memories.
Why? Because soon Nintendo will release a new patch (1.0.4), and all of your old replays from version 1.0.3 will no longer be compatible.
That’s not all, until your friends update to version 1.0.4 as well, you won’t be able to play online multiplayer with them. The latest patch will hit Nintendo’s eShop in the next week or so.
Moreover, Nintendo has not shared much details regarding the patch but according to a post on their official website, it will include balance adjustments and other changes in order to improve gameplay and fix some issues.
You can see an English translation of the patch notes below:
“We are planning to release the next patch (Ver. 1.0.4) within the month.
This patch will adjust the game balance by refining the strengths of some fighters. It also includes various other gameplay fixes. Please see the notices on the next page:
- Local Wireless will not work if a player who has updated to 1.0.4 tries to battle a player with an older version.
- Receiving patch 1.0.4 will disable playback of replays saved using older versions.
- This patch is required for online play.” from the main menu alert on Smash 3DS.
At this point, it is unclear what these changes and improvements are but considering that Nintendo had to modify the game in a way that it no longer supports old replays, contents of this patch seem pretty important.
