Bethesda Softworks has issued an official statement in regards to the Fallout: Shadow of Boston rumor.
Earlier in the day, a NeoGAF member discovered a trademark filing from Bethesda of something called Fallout: Shadow of Boston. It wasn’t long before the word was being spread all across the web about a new Fallout installment.
It then attracted the attention of the studio which quickly took to its official Twitter account to state the following: “The German trademark filing that’s making the rounds is a hoax. This didn’t come from our offices.”
This isn’t the first time and neither will it be the last from the looks of it, that we’ve seen a Fallout rumor go viral.
The community is hungry for a new Fallout installment and that hunger went up ten folds when there were rumors of Bethesda working on a Fallout MMO. That rumor then transitioned into a next-gen Fallout title with insane visual fidelity and which seemingly takes place in Boston.
This also isn’t the first time that someone has taken the Boston keyword to feed their Fallout rumors. Bethesda has also been pretty quick on the draw to straight away come out and deny rumors.
The studio makes it sound like it has completely forgotten about the post-apocalyptic series. But that can’t be right now can it?
