Bungie has announced that some of the contents from its upcoming ‘The Dark Below’ DLC for Destiny will be provided for free. The Dark Below features a new story expansion, PvP, strike and raid content, and new gear and weaponry.
According to community manager David Dague, players will be given access to some of the new weapons and armor, regardless of whether they purchase the DLC or the game’s season pass. In addition to that players will also be able to pick up new daily bounties, along with five additional bounty slots.
However, note that you won’t be able to take on any of the new missions or join your friends who own the DLC for the new strikes or raids. You will though be able to utilize the new armors and weapons.
The announcement comes in the wake of the Xbox community being pretty disappointed in realizing that
the DLC will be a part of the DLC will be exclusive to the PlayStation for an entire year.
While Bungie has stated that the new content will be available to all players, I’m unsure if that means for all platforms or all players on the PlayStation alone. In the weekly developer update, Dague also talked a bit about the upcoming new storylines.
“Quests are a new storytelling mechanism that we’re using in the Dark Below. They are multistage tasks that culminate in a reward, similar to the Exotic Bounties you may have experienced. Unlike Exotic Bounties, the Quests in the Dark Below can be completed by players who are solely focused on the cooperative story content of The Dark Below,” he explained.
The Dark Below arrives on December 9 for the PlayStation and will be priced at $20.
