Hollywood figure and lead of the popular ‘House of Cards’ show Kevin Spacey has spoken about his involvement in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
The actor stars in the latest Call of Duty installment as Jonathan Irons, the CEO and founder of Atlas, a military corporation willing to execute illegal operations across the globe for the highest bidder.
Having gathered enough strength over the years, Irons is ready for an all out war against the United States to bring forth his own version of democracy and in doing so bring balance of power.
At the start Sledgehammer Games wanted the actor to bring his Frank Underwood persona to the game but Spacey ended up channeling a far more ruthless role.
“I thought it was a character I could really sink my teeth into,” he said about the potential to explore the dark side of a private military corporation.
According to Spacey, he hopped on to the project without being given any script. All he had was an idea which he hoped to develop along the way.
“It was a leap of faith,” he said, “because they were going to have me help them develop it as it went along.”
Studio co-founder and Head of Development Michael Condrey revealed that they had their eyes on him even before the success of House of Cards.
“He steps on stage and performs as Jonathan Irons with the power and emotion only he can bring,” said Condrey. “I think he has really brought something compelling and new to the narrative of Call of Duty.”
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is currently available for all major platforms. I’m sure everyone will enjoy Irons, as much as Kevin Spacey had fun performing.
