During the latest financial briefing, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata revealed some interesting financial results. However, that wasn’t everything he shared. According to the veteran boss Wii U and 3DS will soon be getting a pre-load feature.
The new feature will allow players to pre-purchase and pre-load games onto their hard drive before release and jump right in as soon as the game is officially available.
Iwata stated that pre-load functionality will be available on Wii U later this year, most probably alongside Nintendo’s flagship title, Super Smash Bro Wii U.
Although Iwata mentioned pre-load functionality for 3DS as well but if you are a 3DS owner, you will have to wait till next year for this feature to be available on your device.
Pre-loading is already available on Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One so Nintendo is a little late to the party. Still, better late than never right?
It will be interesting to see what Nintendo does next to keep the ball rolling. As the Holiday season heads our way, this is a great opportunity for the company to further boost their performance.
