Nintendo: Financial Report Reveals Wii U’s Lifetime Sales Among Other Stats

Nintendo has revealed its financial results
for 6 months ended (September 30th) which has shown some positive ordinary and net income compared to the same period of 2013.

The results also revealed the total hardware sales for 3DS and Wii U.

Since its launch a few years ago, Wii U has managed to sell 7.9 million units worldwide while Nintendo 3DS is way ahead with over 45 millions units sold.

During the period between April and the end of September, both 3DS and Wii U has sold 9.4 million and 1.2 millions units respectively.

Wii U sales might seem slow, but compared to the same period of last year, sales have doubled which will surely make Nintendo pretty happy.

Nintendo has made $132 million in profit in the last six months ending September 30th.

Some financial analysts were predicting that Nintendo will post a hefty loss. It seems as though strong sales of Super Smash Bros 3DS and Tomodachi Life has played an important role in Nintendo’s positive financials.

This is good news for Nintendo but the company is still far off its targets. 3DS sales went down compared to the same period of last year when the system sold around 2.5 million units. However, this time around the company only managed to move 1.2 million systems.

With Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata back from his surgery as well, things seem to be getting better for them but they still have a long way to go.
