Publisher Square Enix has announced during a stream that Dragon Quest Heroes is ready for launch in Japan on February 26, 2015. That’s not too long now, given the game was revealed at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, just a short while ago.
Dragon Quest Heroes is the first iteration the franchise is doing for Sony, since it left off at Dragon Quest VIII on Playstation 2. In the game, you’ll be able to play with characters Yangus and Jessica from the PS2 classic.
There are two versions planned, one on Playstation 3 and one on Playstation 4. Those on PS4 will be able to enjoy Dragon Quest Heroes at 60 frames per second (fps), while the PS3 version is locked at 30fps.
Quite like Hyrule Warriors that preceded it on Nintendo Wii U, Dragon Quest Heroes is a franchise reskin of the Dynasty Warriors gameplay model. It’s made by the same developer as well, which makes it more than just a reference.
Along with the reveal that Dragon Quest Heroes was in production, Sony announced a limited edition Metal Slime PS4 with a slimy character atop the console. It will release prior to the game, ready to be shipped in Japan on December 11, 2014.
A purchase of the Metal Slime PS4 comes with a 15 day voucher for Playstation Plus, as well as a Dragon Quest Heroes theme and the game itself, once it releases. In fact, the limited edition console buyers will receive the game one day early.
