The team behind the FPS module of Star Citizen called “Redacted” held a Reddit AMA yesterday, where they answered multiple questions regarding the new module of the game.
First, they confirmed that the players will be able to get their hands on this upcoming module in the first quarter of 2015. They also revealed that this upcoming feature is inspired by some famous games like Counter Strike, Rainbow six, Delta Force, Killzone and ARMA.
Redacted gave an example of how this FPS Module will work in Star Citizen:
A Persistent Universe experience. I’m a stealthy, solo player. I find a wrecked ship, i know scavengers will be around soon. I find a crate and put myself in it. I let the scavengers take the crate and put me in their ship. When i’m on their ship, sometime later, i get out of the crate.
Very quietly, i rummage around and find some goodies i like. I steal those… now i can either – A) Jump out the airlock and call a ride or B) go to their engine room and self destruct their ship or C) quietly hunt and execute the entire staff and take their ship…. or Z) they could have scanned the crate properly before loading it, blasted it with their ship and me with it…
I have to say that it sounds quite interesting, but we will see how this holds up once we get our hands on it.
Apart from that, Redacted revealed that the FPS module also have a cover system just like you witnessed in Far Cry 3, but here you will be able to perform different moves like leaning, peeking, crouching etc.
Furthermore, FPS module will contain a lot of predefined game modes and levels, and some of them will explore co-op and team based mechanics.
The team also confirmed that you will be allowed to customize your weapons by adding new attachments and different ammo types.
