Developer Amplitude Studios is looking to wrap up 2014 with two extra launches to its name, as it has announced that Dungeon of the Endless is ready to move on from its current Early Access state on Steam. A full release will come on October 27, 2014.
With the launch, players can expect some new features. One of those is a way for the randomly thrown in characters to interact with each other, revealing their relationships.
There are also new game modes coming. These will be presented as different space ships that the crew of characters protects. Weirdly enough, it unlocks higher difficulties, despite Dungeon of the Endless already being quite hard.
A journal will keep track of playthrough scores, while an album will catalog some pictures and reveal secrets. Not unimportantly, you’ll be able to walk the surface of the planet.
Finally, cooperative mode is part of the full plan of Dungeon of the Endless. This can be a game changer to manage resources and handle threats at the same time.
Dungeon of the Endless is a mix of tower defense with roleplaying game elements. Players protect a home base with two starting characters and go into randomly generated locations, searching for the exit.
Along the way, you’ll unlock new rooms, which can be outfitted with turrets and helpful structures. Chambers can also hide merchants and even additional characters that can be recruited.
Periodically, waves of enemies will try to get to the power core of the crashed ship. Characters can actively counter these with a set of skills, which expand in a progression system.
Dungeon of the Endless has been on Early Access since December of 2013. Since then, the developer also released Endless Legend, a 4X strategy conquest game set in the same universe, which went through Early Access as well.
