Golden State Warriors
One of the biggest decisions during the first year is renewing the contract of Klay Thompson. Assuming that Thompson’s contract demands in real and in-game life resemble, the Golden State Warriors will certainly get into the tax.
When we talk about the 3-year plan, the first thing that you will notice is that David Lee’s deal will expire in year 20XV-2016. Furthermore, deals with Stephen Curry, Andre Lguodala, and Andrew Bogut will expire in 2017.
It is highly recommended that Stephen Curry is reinstated. In addition to this, keeping Draymond Green (After 2016) and Harrison Barnes (After 2017) is a good idea.
Spending your money smartly and finding alternatives for David Lee, Andre Lguodala, and Andrew Bogut are the most important decisions.
Los Angeles Clippers
You will have to extend the contract of DeAndre after year-1 and will probably have to pay more than $11.4 million – which is his current deal. There are hardly any chances that Matt Barnes will make it as a starting SF on the championship team.
Jamal Crawford’s contract will allow expire after year-1 giving you freedom to get a replacement for Barnes. With 3-year plan, you need to extend DeAndre Jordan for four years which will take up about $70 million.
Other core players and reserves will stick until 3 years with the exception of Jamal Crawford. The problem that you will have to deal with is that the core players will take up much of your expense – you don’t want this.
Your best bet is to go with veterans at low-prices or new-comers.
Los Angeles Lakers
In 2017, the only players at your disposal are going to be Julius Randle, Nick Young, and any other player drafted before this period. You most probably won’t have access to Kobe after year 2016, so make your plans before hand.
With all these changes, your team will look almost like a new team in 2017. The idea is to focus on every position with the exception on PF and SG.
When we talk about the year-1 plan, your biggest problem comes in the shape of Eric Bledsoe’s contract who wants it to be around $96 million while the Phoenix Suns wish to keep it around $48 million.
Be prepared to face the tackle the situation because there are good chances that it will fall in your lap.
It is not recommended that you sign players like Rudy Gay, Jason Terry, Travis Outlaw, and Reggie Evans. The reason for this is that these players will eat up most of your budget.
When we talk about 3-years plan, sign a couple of 2-year deals, have around $40 million budget, a couple of decent guards, and a superstar in Demarcus Cousins. You need to take this time and get some decent players to fill in any spaces in your roster.
As soon as Rajon Rondo’s contract expires, you will have Marcus Smart as a decent and much cheaper replacement. Let Rajon Rondo walk away and fill in with Marcus Thornton, Brandon Bass, and Joel Anthony for a year.
Do everything right and after year-2, you will not only have large bucks, but also talented young players. Also consider replacing Gerald Wallace and Jeff Green after year-2.
It is recommended to extend the contract of Jared Sullinger and fill in the roster with young talent for a short duration.
Kevin Garnett’s contract will expire after year-1 and you will not be able to replace him externally because of the salary cap. Either go with trades or let Mason Plumlee take up his place.
You should also consider extending Mirza Teletovic’s contract after year-1. It is also recommended to trade Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, and Brook Lopez.
Most of the players in Brooklyn Nets are either aging or stationary and you need to change that. Finding replacements for Deron Williams and Joe Johnson holds utmost importance.
Another thing that you need to keep in mind is the injury of Brook Lopez. And lastly, deciding the fate of Bojan Bogdanovic is another grave decision.
New York Knicks
When we talk about the 1-year plan, the only real decision is whether to extend Iman Shumpert or not. With Carmelo Anthony in the roster, the real task is to build a strong team around him.
New York Knicks has some decent guard players like Shane Larkin, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Iman Shumpert. You need to find a trio of starters while focusing on Center and Power Forward. Furthermore, keep an eye out on LaMarcus Aldridge.
When we talk about 3-years plan, filling in your roster after year-1 will leave you with only one major decision and that is extending the deals with rookies.
Wroten and Arnett Moultrie should top your list. This is one of the few teams for you if you wish to take them from scratch and reach for the glory.
Talking about the first year, it is recommended that you extend the contract of Amir Johnson, but don’t go overboard with the money.
With players like Kyle Lowry, DeMar Derozan, Jonas Valanniunas, and Amir Johnson; all you are required to do is to find a decent Small Forward.
Replacing or developing Ross will let you fill in the only weak link in the roster.
There is hardly anything you can do with this roster during the year-1. You should extend the contract of Kenneth Faried after year-1. When we talk about 3-years plan, it is recommended to pick up Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, and Randy Foye.
Your target should be to create flexibility for yourself. With the exception of Harris and Faried, you can trade in most of the players on the roster.
However, you should only do this, if you are looking to bring in some drastic changes to your roster, while hoping for some major improvements.
When we talk about year-1, your whole team will be capped out by the end of year-1. Should you choose to extend Ricky Rubio, beware of the tax situations.
Do note that Ricky Rubio will be an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2016-2017 so it is better to extend him early on. When we talk about the 3-year plan, the only thing that you need to focus on is shooting.
You will not find any decent shooters on the bench and will be left to trade Rubio – even if you have extended his contract. This holds utmost importance because without decent shooters, you will not be able to take on western powers.
Oklahoma City Thunder
During the year-1, work hard a bit and the title is yours. With players like Anthony Morrow and Reggie Jackson, you will have decent guard.
Another important decision revolves around Reggie Jackson – don’t go overboard with his payment as you will have other things to take care of.
When we talk about 3-years plan, you will 3 max-level extensions between the offseason; Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Serge Ibaka.
Players like LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews, and Robin Lopez become Unrestricted Free Agents after year-1 and extending their contracts will cost a fortune.
When we talk about 3-years plan, it is crucial to re-sign Nicolas Batum after year-2 and don’t let Damian Lillard become an Unrestricted Free Agent.
You need to keep your focus on improving the team in the frontcourt with either drafting or trading.
You should definitely consider giving Alec Burks an extension in 2015. Other than this, there are not a ton of decisions that you need to make. You can allow almost all your contracts signed through 2017 to expire with the exception of Gobert and Trey Burke.
Another important decision lies with Favors. See if he manages to show some improvements and if he doesn’t, let him go by the end of 2018 season and keep on searching for a replacement for Karl Malone.
You can let the contracts of Aaron Brooks and Mike Dunleavy to expire, but give Jimmy Butler an extension after the first year. Don’t go overboard and stay under the tax to provide Derrick Rose a good partner.
When we talk about 3-years plan, try and keep Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose – provided that he does not conceive an injury. It is recommended that max out Rose, give Noah a good deal, and extend both Butler and Tony Snell.
By doing so, you will have choose between Mirotic, Gasol, and Gibson.
The first thing that you need to do is to lock LeBron James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving for maximum duration. It is not recommended to keep Anderson Varejao, so trade him with someone like Dion Waiters or Triostan Thompson.
Matthew Dellavedova is a decent option to partner up with Kyrie Irving. Furthermore, you also need to work on your center depth. The drafts that you need to pick should have skills like shooting and rim protection.
Greg Monroe will become an Unrestricted Free Agent by the start of the next summer. You will have to decide between keeping Drummond or Monroe and there are good chances that it will be Drummond.
Due to this fact, try trading Monroe early on for something decent. Josh Smith is another problem you will have to tackle with. He cannot shoot properly and is not fast enough. You need to keep your focus on finding starters at Point Guard and Small Forward.
If you wish to keep your team intact, your contending year is 2015-2016. This is when George Hill will make a return. Signing Watson and Copeland will still leave you in the market for another wing – well, unless you wish to have CJ Miles running with George.
Both CJ Watson and Chris Copeland are quite skilful to use in NBA 2KXV. Both of these players will bring back the aggressive side to the team that came with Paul George’s departure.
When we talk about Milwaukee Bucks, consider trading OJ Mayo.
The ideal strategy is to get a Point Guard in 2015 draft and trade Knight or let another team sign him. This team does not require many changes, but you need to focus on Frontcourt Scoring and Point Guard.
Getting Ersan Illyasova at a reasonable price will let you couple him with Sanders and solve the problem of Frontcourt Scoring. Get a decent Point Guard and you will have a pretty strong team at your disposal.
When we talk about the 1-year plan, you need to decide what you want to do with Tyson Chandler and Brandan Wright whose contract expires after one year. You need to find a Point Guard to make up for the future.
The contracts of Raymond Felton, Jameer Nelson, and Montra Ellis will expire after 2016. With Devin Harris, you have a 4-year contract that expires after 2017-2018. You have Eric Bledsoe and Goran Drangic as decent options.
You need to decide if you wish to keep Patrick Beverley as your Point Guard for the future. In addition to this, you also need to decide whether you wish to keep Trevor Ariza and Terrence Jones or replace them.
Your options include Rudy Gay, Jeff Green, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Paul Millsap. Coming to Dwight Howard, you should either resign him or walk away from him. The cap that you will save from this will help you get Kevin Durant.
Right off the bat, you will have pretty big decisions to make. You will have Mike Conley as the only true starter for 2015-2016. If you decide to re-sign Marc Gasol, he will probably demand a max contract along with Zach Randolph.
The big decisions only lie during the year-1. After that year-1, you will have pretty much a fixed roster unless you sign any short-term contracts.
New Orleans Pelicans
During the year-1, the only decision is about Omer Asik – you need to focus on shooting when drafting. When we talk about long-term plans, you need to make decisions about Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson whose contracts will expire by the end of 2016.
It is advised that you keep Anderson and let Gordon walk away. Immediately after this, you will have to decide about Anthony Davis, Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, and Austin Rivers.
It is recommended that you keep one of Gordon and Evans. In addition to this, you will also have the option of getting Chandler Parsons in the coming summer. Your final line-up should have Holiday, Gordon, Parsons, Anderson, and Davis.
San Antonio Spurs
You need to keep in mind that Tim Duncan will retire in a year and plan things accordingly! You will be able to extend Kawhi Leonard’s contact after year-2, but don’t go overboard with his payment.
In addition to this, Tony Parker’s extension will also expire soon and he will around 36 years old by then.
With the exception of Al Horford, there is no one who deserves a maximum contract. You also need to sign Paul Millsap for a 3-year deal to make the team future-proof.
After 1-year, you will be able to sign most of the max-level free agents at your disposal. Maxing out Horford and re-signing Millsap will not leave you with much and you will also have Jeff Teague’s contract due after year-3.
You need to trade in Gerald Henderson and Al Jefferson before the trading deadline. Let the players like PJ Hairston and Noah Vonleg play.
In the 2015-2016 season, Bismack Biyombo and Kemba Walker will be looking for new deals which will consume a major chunk of the cap space. At this point, you will be able to redo the entire team, but try and hand on to Vonleh to make the team more future proof.
Chris Bosh has a good five-year long deal and contracts of players like Josh McRoberts, Luol Deng, and Dwyane Wade will leave you with not many options.
When we talk about 3-years plan, you can pick up Shabaz Napier and keep him as a starter. You will find many decent free agents to fill in any remaining spots in your roster.
An important decision comes in the form of taking a superstar to run along Bosh and Napier. Be careful as you draft players for Deng and Wade.
Vecevic and Harris will require extensions after year-1 and it is recommended that you sign both of them. Vucevic may demand a higher price, so you need to decide on a price early on.
In the year-1, you need to decide how to manage the young players to create a team which is effective on both offense and defence side. You will have some major decision to make in year-1.
With Paul Pierce, John Wall, and Bradley Beal; this is easily one of the best teams in NBA 2KXV and most of the players are on long-term contracts. Paul Pierce may retire in summer 2016.
In addition to this, Bradle Beal may also see his contract expire. You need to stick to him and make a long deal. You need to keep your focus on Center and Forward positions.
The bottom line is to sign and draft carefully as you will not be in a position to make major amendments.
