Heroes of the Storm Alpha is Back Online with Loads of Changes
Heroes of the Storm had been off the grid for a while now, but thankfully the maintenance downtime is over and your technical alpha is back and it comes bearing quite a lot of changes to the game.
The official website reads:
“After more than a week of extended maintenance, the Heroes of the Storm Technical Alpha is back online for North America, Latin America, South East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. We anticipate that Heroes will be live in Europe on October 9, and that Korea, Taiwan, and China will be available again for play in the weeks thereafter.”
This means that if you previously were a part of the game before the downtime hit, you can go back to the Nexus now; more players are also being added gradually.
Among a list of several changes made in the maintenance period, you will notice that you are now connected with your home regions and the existing friend list.
Then there was a new patch that has brought back custom games, a new replay feature, an observer mode, and two new playable characters namely the Anub’arak and Azmodan.
Moving on, the developers have reset the MMR (matchmaking rating) for every player in the game. The effect of this will be that Heroes of the Storm might pit you against players that don’t match your skill levels at the beginning. However, as you continue playing, your MMR will rebuild.
Saving the best for the last, they have announced that you will be rewarded with doubt experience points for Practice, Cooperative as well as Versus Mode; and, all the XP earned will now stay with you. Planned wipes are a thing of the past now!
