PS4 Driveclub Ready For Pre-Load

Paul Rustchynsky, game director of #Driveclub, has announced that pre-loading for the racing title has started in selected regions. Two tweets outline what date you’re able to start downloading and what version you’ll be getting:

The aforementioned Playstation Plus edition of Driveclub, which we’ll now mention without an annoying hashtag,  is free, which is probably why paying customers are given a little advance. This version won’t contain as many tracks or cars as the fuller, paid game either.

Originally, the game was announced at E3 2013 as part of the Playstation 4’s launch line-up, though it grew more uncertain as time went on and a delay was announced near console release. It was then later delayed once more, which was met with some derision.

A cause for the delay was the game’s dynamic menu, which would help transition between menus, races and other activities as smoothly as possible. Additionally, initial hopes of running the racing title at 60 frames per second (fps) had to be scaled back to a normal 30fps at 1080p resolution.

Driveclub is a project from developer Evolution Studios, previously known for the WRC series and the Motorstorm franchise after that.

Depending on your region, Driveclub will release sometime this week. For the US, it’s out tomorrow, while Europe gets it on October 8 and the UK specifically needs to wait until October 10.

At least there’s some closure in finally seeing this game come to pass. Tell us in the comments if you’ve been waiting for this racing game to join your Playstation 4 collection.
