It had been a while since we talked about SteamOS or anything related to it, so Gearbox Software decided to draw our attention to it once again. The developer of Borderlands The Pre-Sequel has announced that it will be bringing its upcoming shooter to Valve’s SteamOS and hence the Steam Machine.
The official website of the Steam Store broke the news couple of hours ago along with more good news for the series fans. The previous installment in the series, Borderlands 2 is also available on SteamOS as of now:
Borderlands 2 is now available on SteamOS, and to celebrate, the game is 75% off! In addition, Borderlands The Pre-Sequel has announced that it will be available on SteamOS when the game launches in October.
All this is good news, but there are details you need to keep in mind. First off, the offer for the Borderlands 2 discount is only valid until October 2 at 10AM PDT; so you better grab it while you can. As far as the upcoming game is concerned, you have to wait until the release day of the game.
This means a third party title is coming to Valve’s operating system on its day one! Good things!
A Linux version of Borderlands The Pre-Sequel was announced one month ago so now the game is coming to a total of six platforms. The others are Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and of course SteamOS.
Except for the last platform, the game will be released for all other in North America on October 14, in Australia on October 16 and finally in Europe on October 17.
