Wasteland 2 Gets Its First Patch, Brings Some Needed Fixes

Wasteland 2 got its first patch which will fix a bunch of bugs infecting the game. Also this new patch has a long list of improvements to UI along with some typo fixes.

Thankfully, User Interface will no longer be out of position after switching to 16:9 ratio from a non-16:9 ratio. Enemy health labels on combat action series will now scale with UI size properly and Junk items are now hidden on the trade screen.

Patch 1 also address issues of weapon jamming and weapons balancing. Hopefully this patch makes the game more consistent. Further combat and gameplay changes are as follows:


– Changed all .8 Combat Speed NPCs to 1.0.
Only allow Mechanical Repair to heal robots if they’re at less than max CON.
Fixed the status effect on the Gold-Plated Derringer.
Improvements to certain enemies’ status effect immunity.
Updated some weapon balance numbers.
Starting a conversation or cutscene interrupts any player actions (including skill meters).
Increased investigate distance on robots.
Now only a single container can be looted at a time in combat.
Increased the “move closer” range of NPC AIs each turn they can’t find anywhere to move to a maximum of 80 squares.
Fixed certain Alarm Disarming skill use bugs.

You can check out the full list of changes here. Wasteland 2 isn’t that strong graphically but the game is very well written and fun to play. The game is set in 1998 where a nuclear holocaust took place. If you still haven’t played the game, it is available for download on Steam for $39.99.
