The Phantom Pain Buddy System And Its Effects Discussed by Kojima

Recently, Hideo Kojima discussed the buddy system of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

As you know a wolfdog by the name of DD (Diamond Dog) will be part of the buddy system along with Quiet. Both can be used in various missions which Snake will embark upon.

However, that is not all, according to Kojima-san you will be able to take a variety of buddies with you in the battlefield. In addition to Quiet and DD you can also take soldiers you extract (more like kidnapped) from the field with you.

Not to forget, have to be careful while taking them along and always keep in mind that they were originally your enemies and might turn on you.

Also, your end game score will be affected if you let your buddy kill too many enemies. Unfortunately, Hideo Kojima won’t be one of the buddies even if you have saved him in GZ, because according to him if he gets you spotted you will take it out on him (Smart guy).

Buddies are not an integral part of the main storyline any way, they are completely optional. Some people might not find DD or might not choose to save him, it will have no effect on the story.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is set to release sometime next year on PS4, Xbox One,Xbox 360, PS3 and for the first time MGS franchise is making its way to PC as well.
