Blizzard Has Cancelled Project Titan

By   /   Sep 23, 2014

Blizzard’s mysterious Titan MMO has been cancelled after being in development for seven long years.

According to Blizzard co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime, the team had faced a severe creative block and just couldn’t find the ‘fun’ factor in the game.

Blizzard has never really talked about Titan, which we assume to be just a code-name, and hence it has been scarcely in the news. Last year though it was said that the developers had returned to the drawing boards to reevaluate the project. Seemingly another year of examination has only led Blizzard to realize that the project was going no where.

In an official statement, Blizzard co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime explained their decision:

We didn’t find the fun. We didn’t find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that’s the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.

From last year’s report, Titan was delayed to a release in 2016. It’s said that this year the team at first decided to delay it even further but ultimately decided to scrap the project altogether.

Rumors and speculations on the web have always suggested that Titan was Blizzard’s take on the sci-fi genre. We’ll never know for sure because we’ve never gotten a look at the game at any stage of its development.
