PlayStation 4 has been enjoying success since its release as Sony revealed at this year’s Gamescom that their latest console has sold over 10 million units worldwide and now a report from MCV indicates that the PS4 sales in UK have crossed 1 million in 42 weeks.

The report also give figures about the previous PlayStation releases in UK, as it states that PlayStation 2 took 50 weeks to surpass 1 million sales, while PS3 crossed 1 million mark in 46 weeks.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 took 60 weeks to achieve this milestone, while Nintendo’s Wii U was faster than all of them as it managed to cross the 1 million mark in just 38 weeks.

Sony’s Fergal Gara in statement to MCV said that a significant number of PS4 owners were the Xbox 360 users, but now they have decided to move to Sony’s platform.

We have certainly seen PS3 consumers come across quite hard and fast, but a very significant proportion are people we have never seen on our network before. And from their behaviour and the types of games they are playing, it’s fairly clear that a big chunk of those have come across from Xbox, which is tremendous to see. And there’s a chunk that look like they’re brand new to gaming. And they’ve picked PS4 as their first serious gaming device.

Have you switched from Xbox 360 to PS4?
