New Details Regarding The Upcoming Assassin’s Creed Movie
While video games transformed into live action movies have almost never been successful and this trend has reached to such a point that not even gamers get excited for such movies, there is one which is highly anticipated by many, partly due to the big names attached to it.
Yes the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender (known for playing young Magneto in the X-men movies) as the assassin.
Some new details have emerged regarding the live action adaptation of one of Ubisoft’s highest selling video game franchise where players take control of the protagonist’s ancestors through his memory thanks to a machine called Animus.
According to the recent news about the movie, the story will be set in 15th century Spain and there will be no Desmond Miles, the protagonist of the games in the movie. This means that the movie is set in the same universe instead of being a retelling of the games which is actually quite good news.
Michael Fassbender, who will also be producing the movie through his DMC film banner, will be taking on dual roles. The 15th century character, an assassin named Aguilar de Agarorobo and his modern day descendant Michael Lynch, a convicted felon now in death row. Perhaps that is how he comes into contact with the Animus.
Given the movie’s setting, the primary antagonist will be none other than Tomás de Torquemada, a Spanish Dominican friar and the first Grand Inquisitor of the Spanish Inquisition. While the movie will stay true to many aspects of the game, it will also be introducing a lot of new stuff.
Assassin’s Creed is slated to open August 7, 2015 and will be directed by Australian film director, Justin Kurzel.
