We Sure Hope The Destiny Live Action Ad Shouts “Venus”

What do you do when your multi-million game can’t really make use of important celebrity exposure for promotion? Well, Destiny hires the director for Tron: Legacy and makes a pretty damn entertaining live-action launch trailer.

Made by Joseph Kosinski, the clip follows the three known classes in Destiny in their galactic travels to wipe out the alien threat. It starts on the moon, where no man had been for hundreds of years.

Sadly, the aliens that have come to squat the rock didn’t really treat it with a lot of respect. So, the team shoots a rocket at their door, which spouts hundreds of angry enemies to pummel.

After some swift fighting moves, which include the skills seen in the Destiny Beta, the team moves to Venus. Well, we sure hope that’s where they are, because the way they pronounce it makes it sound like a certain part from 500 Days of Summer.

There’s also some riding in the trailer, which brings us back to some neat Star Wars memories. The ensuing giant space turtle we didn’t really see before, but at least the team takes care of that with just a dash of swag.

“Become Legend,” as the clip is called was premiered during the NFL season opener on NBC between the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.

Destiny sure makes its rumors of hundreds of millions spent on the game look credible with this high production value ad. At the very least, it’s easy to get sucked into the hype, certainly if you’re into some Led Zeppelin.

Most importantly, after what feels like forever, Destiny is almost out. Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4 or Playstation 3; the choice is yours on September 9.
