This one could probably be one of the major news of the day; albeit a rumor, it could make the headline if it is true that Activision Blizzard is in the talks with Take Two Interactive Software with a view to take over the latter.
In fact, the Santa Monica based holding company might actually put forward an offer one of these days.
Activision Blizzard would not surprise anyone if they are interesting in taking over the publisher as their history shows them to be a giant company that would grow by bringing others into its fold.
Even more importantly, who wouldn’t want to acquire a company that publishes something like Grand Theft Auto – the goose that laid the golden eggs!
Benchmark analyst Mike Hickey has been talking about the probability that Activision might be looking to bring to their fold yet another major name in the gaming world.
He refers to it as the ‘emerging romance’ between the two companies:
“For Activision, acquiring Take-Two Interactive would be a no-brainer, in our view, circling some of the strongest development talent and owned IP in the world, within a company that has nearly $1 billion in cash and trades at a comparably lower multiple. With the acquisition of Take-Two Interactive, Activision would have arguably the three strongest development studios in the world with Rockstar Games, Bungie and Blizzard.”
This is not the first time that a company has tried taking over Take Two Interactive, EA tried in 2008 to buy it for $2billion but the publisher thought they had been undervalued. Do you think Activision Blizzard would offer something more lucrative?
