Destiny will be available for pre-order and pre-load on the Xbox One before the game officially releases on September 9.
The feature was revealed through an Xbox.com listing for the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition which since then has been pulled.
The listing also did not reveal the file size of Destiny on the Xbox One. If the game is going to be available for pre-load prior to its official release, those with crummy Internet connections need to know in advance of how much they are going to be downloading.
Microsoft has been asked to confirm and clarify the news. An official statement is pending.
Bungie’s upcoming action shooter is currently unavailable for pre-orders and hence pre-loading. According to the listing the game would be unlocked on its release date at 12:01 am PT or 3:01 am ET.
The pre-loading feature for Xbox One was announced by Micrsoft during Gamescom 2014 earlier this month. According to the announcement the ability to download games before their official launches will be available next month with the arrival of FIFA 15 and Forza Horizon 2.
Alternatively EA has already offered pre-loading with Madden NFL 15 on the Xbox One this month.
In the case of the PlayStation 4, pre-loading was brought in earlier this year as part of a system update. Destiny has already been confirmed for pre-load on the PS4.
