German based Yager Development has released new gameplay footage for Dead Island 2, in which we see design director Jorg Friedrich explain the major technical and design challenges behind the sequel.
Dead Island 2 was available on the Gamescom 2014 show floor earlier this month for attendees to check out. Publisher Deep Silver presented an early build of the game and so far the initial previews are looking good.
Dead Island 2 is going to feature a massive world which is set up in California, unlike the original’s fictional island setting.
The sequel also brings back the Rage system which gives players a temporary boost, and the weapon combining system. As for the undead horde, the zombies this time around are even deadlier, but at the same time more fragile.
Dead Island 2 will feature four playable characters (of which we have only seen two), cooperative and competitive multiplayer.
The game’s story takes place several months after the events on Banoi. Due to the zombie outbreak, the US military has quarantined the entire region, making it a restricted zone. On the other side, California has become home to renegades who seek adventure, glory and a fresh start, and refuse to leave their homes.
Dead Island 2 is in development for the PS4, Xbox One and PC and will release sometime next year.
