The second closed beta for The Crew is underway for PC and the new locked fps system is not going very well with the PC players.
The community manager of Ubisoft wrote on the official forums that the upcoming open world racing title will stay locked at 30fps on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The final game will run in 1080p with 30 frames per second on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and will support up to 5760*1080p on PC for triple screen set-ups. Right now the team is focusing on providing an optimal experience for all players. You can unlock it in the file you’ve found, but it may affect the game’s performances. Your call.
After the official revelation, people who are not even part of the beta are really ticked off as they don’t want the developers to lock the fps at 30 because most of the PC gamers out there have capable enough PC that can do better than that.
However, there are a lot of ways to go around it and make the frame rates better for the game, but not getting a green light from developers is definitely disappointing.
The first beta of The Crew did have option of locking the FPS but it was greyed out, which means that developers originally planned for more fps but due to some reason they decided to lock it to 30 for every platform.
After receiving this feedback from angry PC gamers, we will see if Ubisoft tries to make any change to the final product which is going to launch on 11th November for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Xbox 360.
