This year’s release of Madden NFL 15 is going to feature several Ultimate Team items that are locked behind a pay-wall.
The Ultimate Team mode tasks players with collecting cards of NFL stars (past and present) to create their fantasy or Ultimate team. The cards are collected by playing the mode and earning points which can then be redeemed for a pack of cards. Once you’re on your way, you can then opt to sell, purchase or trade in the game’s marketplace.
For those with low patience, cards and other associated goodies can be obtained through micro-transactions using real-life cash. The concept is nothing new and has been done before in the Madden NFL franchise.
This year however, it is being reported that there will be several items in the game’s Ultimate Team mode which can only be obtained through money. There’s no option of redeeming them through the game’s progression or the in-game currency.
The prices are said to vary between $0.99 for 100 points and $99.99 for 12,000 points.
EA has always been blamed for being a scrupulous company when it comes to milking its user base. While an official clarification from their side is pending, those driving the EA-hate bandwagon will not even be surprised knowing this latest Madden NFL 15 update.
Madden NFL 15 is scheduled for release next week for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
