Ultra Street Fighter IV is the latest installment in the prestigious fighting franchise but unfortunately was released this year for the last-gen consoles and PC only.
The community instantly bombed Capcom with questions on whether the game would be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. However, the developer’s vague replies only led everyone to believe that the chances for Ultra Street Fighter IV to end up on the current-gen consoles is slim, or at least it won’t be happening any time soon.
Today, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono Tweeted that the Street Fighter franchise would eventually be coming to both the PS4 and Xbox One, but didn’t specify as to which title would make it first. He also stated that the franchise won’t be making its way to the Wii U, which is just another blow to Nintendo’s struggling console.
Responding to fan on Twitter that asked, “Are we going to get a Street Fighter game on the Xbox One and PS4?” Ono wrote: “Hahaha, some time or other…” But fans hoping for a Wii U version are out of luck, Ono also wrote, “I apologize that we don’t have plans for Wii U… .”
The man also commented on an earlier rumor, clarifying that Capcom would not be using a pay-to-win model. He is currently working as a producer on Deep Down.
Interestingly it was only last month when peripherals manufacturer MadCatz announced that their upcoming fighting stick for Ultra Street Fighter IV would enable players to switch between the PS3 and PS4 on the fly. Just food for thought.
