Ubisoft has revealed that its upcoming open-world action title The Division will feature rappelling as a game mechanic.
While none of the trailers and reveals for the game which we’ve gotten so far have shown such a mechanic in action, it’s possible that we’ll soon be getting one after this revelation. It’s also possible that Ubisoft has been busy in making the rappelling mechanic work right and hence have kept it hidden until now.
The developer has expressed interest in doing a beta, but not before the game’s online features are working as intended. You don’t want a horde of players jumping into the game excitedly only to be left annoyed and disappointed over the game’s online issues.
With Red Storm Entertainment’s involvement in the title, The Division is expected to receive a customization screen similar to what we had in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
The Division does feature RPG elements but there will be very few NPCs to interact with in the frozen city which is described as ‘dead place’.
The developer also confirmed again that The Division will definitely be releasing in 2015 and will not be delayed to 2016. The game originally was announced for a late 2014 release but was pushed back because Ubisoft needed more time.
The Division is in development for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
