Microsoft recently closed down Xbox Entertainment Studios although they did assure fans that the Halo tv series was still on track for release. Well now it turns out the studio might not be fully dead as the company is now looking for a buyer to take control of the studio.
An unnamed source revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros. Studios is one of the companies in talks with Microsoft to purchase the short lived experimental studio.
If a sale does happen (although it might not), XES would become its own production arm that WB might merge with Machinima, the video games/gamer culture-focused YouTube network that the studio owns a chunk of.
There has been no official word from Machinima or XES on the matter although WB did release a vague statement saying that the studio is constantly on the lookout for new business opportunities however, that does not mean that they actually end up buying the companies.
From the looks of it, Microsoft wants nothing to do with XES in the future and is fully intented on closing it down or removing it from their roster. This shutdown was announced in July by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella as part of a huge restructuring underway at the company.
