The Xbox community has been requesting more digital purchasing options for some while now and today Microsoft has finally answered their wishes.
Posting on his blog, Microsoft’s Major Nelson revealed that starting this month, there would be more ways to “get the content you want most on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.”
“You asked for more digital purchasing options and we’re answering,” he wrote.
Xbox consumers will soon be able to purchase digital download codes for select games and add-ons from participating retailers. After purchasing a code at a participating retailer, consumers can then redeem them easily on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 or via Xbox.com. The offer however is restricted to the US and UK alone, at least for now.
According to the announcement, the current list of content available in digital download codes-format features select map and expansion packs for the Halo and Forza franchises. There’s also Max: Curse of Brotherhood and State of Decay.
The current list might look slim but Microsoft has promised to add more digital codes in the future from other publishers and in more countries in the coming months.
