Remember that Sonic Boom thing Sega announced earlier this year? It’s received a spiffy new trailer and a release date to boot.
You’ll be able to get your taped mittens on this game this year on November 21, if you’re living in Europe. This includes both the Nintendo Wii U version, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, as well as the 3DS one, Sonic boom: Shattered Crystal.
The latest trailer focuses on the Wii U bit, since it has the graphical fidelity advantage and all. We get to be narrated by an ever so arrogant Sonic, now more juvenile sounding than ever.
In short, the trailer is like one of those coming of age series on the Disney channel. If you’re not in the tween demographic, you may have some trouble digesting this title.
Sonic Boom deals with robots, but not from Robotnik for once. Instead, a strange flying serpent creature takes control of the land, wanting to replace organic life with robots.
It’s up to Sonic and pals to go through different locations and talk to people to try and stop this madness. There’s only a limited amount of gameplay in this trailer, so hopefully the back story will do to satisfy your hunger for now.
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is being developed by Big Red Button in L.A., while Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal is in hands of Sanzaru Games in San Francisco. The latter has already done work on the Sly Cooper series, which may work in its advantage.
