Though Samsung VR headset has been in the talks for quite some time now, this is the first time we have received an image of the kit along with an expected reveal window.
The said image has seen its way online and gives a good look at the head-mounted display which is now being codenamed as Project Moonlight instead of GearVR. In addition to the HMD, you can also see a Samsung gamepad, Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone, and a hard case to hold the smartphone device.
The Verge notes, “Oculus which uses Note 3 display has been reported to be tied up with this project, a nod to the fact that modern smartphone have large, ultra high-resolution displays and enough sensors to accomplish much of the orientation that a full virtual reality system needs.”
It is also being reported that the device will be officially unveiled at the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany on Sept. 3, 2014 along with a simultaneous event in the New York City.
It is also interesting to see that the company is expected to reveal the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 at the same event which kind of gives away the idea that the said smartphone might support the device.
It’s just a matter of a month and everything will likely to be revealed.
