Uncharted 4: Naughty Dog Co-Founder Explains How They Get Max Out of PS4

In the recent issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, Naughty Dog co-founder Christophe Balestra talks about the potential of PlayStation 4 and its advantages to the studio in terms of development for their upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

According to Balestra, PS4 is truly a gaming beast and opens a lot of doors for the studio however, since its quite new, the developers are still exploring ways on how to best exploit it and fully utilize its potential.

He also mentioned that working on The Last of Us Remastered helped the studio understand the PS4 a bit better and it will really help them in the future on the development of Uncharted 4.

“We’re still learning how to get the best out of it. I mean, back on PS3, if you see the change between Uncharted 1 and 2, that was a pretty big gap! So it takes some time to really get familiar with the machine.”

Balestra feels that while PS3 was a great machine in itself, it had been in the market for too long and working on a single machine for that long ultimately ends in the developers running out of ideas.

With PS4, e believes they get a new and refreshing start where they can push the boundaries even further and express to the audience what it is like to be playing a truly memorable next generation game.
