A modder and designer who goes online by the name of Loopy has successfully developed a custom adapter that allows players to use the GameCube controller to play on both the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS.
“I re-purposed an old capture board,” Loopy explained. “Along with the standard buttons, the GC analog stick is also mapped to the 3DS d-pad. C-stick also goes to Y/X/B/A.”
“If I were to sell it, I’d just make a DIY kit (bare board), it would be very cheap to make,” he added in response to a question about making the item available to the public.
The news would perhaps make Super Smash Bros. fans incredibly happy, who don’t want to bother with a new control scheme for the 3DS.
There’s already a lot of requests and demand for the adaptor. However, Loopy has yet to make it available for the masses. You can click here to see a video of him testing out the controller.
In the past he has also managed to create a 3DS Video Capture Board that allows players to live stream or record gameplay from the 3DS handheld. Instead of people using alternate methods to record gameplay, including the annoying part of having someone hold a camera, Loopy’s mod made our lives easier.
