A new UI has been rumored to be in development for the PlayStation 4, one which doesn’t quite goes far from the present concept but in fact banks on it completely to provide a more clutter free and interactive experience.
BehindGames has allegedly gotten hold of some leaked screenshots that showcase the new UI. The images show a brand new home screen with its associated folders.
Additionally, the trophy system and notification bar has been completely revamped. Pressing the PS button upon achieving a trophy now opens up a full bar that features details of the said trophy.
Still, this post is being filed under rumors because we’ve yet to here an official word from Sony. The images could very well be authentic but until we hear it straight from the horse’s mouth, it’s best to take it all with a grain of salt.
One of the highest requested features from the PlayStation community since the release of the PlayStation 4 has been of a new UI interface with more functionality compared to the current one. Overhauling UI interfaces happen all the time and did so across the life span of the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The PlayStation 4 is going to be a year old in November. A refreshing new interface would be a good change.
Gamescom 2014 takes place next week. It’s likely that Sony will reveal details about the UI changes during its conference.
