Of Course Assassin’s Creed Unity Focuses On Women Now

There’s a new cinematic trailer out for Assassin’s Creed Unity that takes place in the giant Parisian city. It features Arno, the protagonist of this iteration, in a quest to disturb a public execution.

There seems to be an emphasis on a clock at the start of the clip, signifying time is of the essence. Given the revolution is still well underway, the paths below are filled with struggles and violence.

Therefore, Arno decides to climb some rooftops is handier, because it saves time and also because this is Assassin’s Creed Unity and you need to have seen some of that parkour action in a video.

Once at the execution square, chaos quickly ensues. Arno dispatches a squad of armed guard fairly easy, before venturing on the guillotine podium. There, he rescues a woman, apparently a Templar, from certain death.

Assassin and Templar then work together to face the crowd. According to a split second shot, the time is now nearly two hours later.

Oh, the end of the clip also reveals that the Templar’s name is Elise, because there’s a special collectible already available for this character you didn’t know existed until today. Elise will be available on October 14, ahead of Assassin’s Creed Unity’s release later that month.

Is anyone surprised that the latest trailer focuses on the inclusion of prominent female figures, after the backlash Ubisoft received in recent media squabbles? We certainly weren’t, but it seems a bit forced regardless.

Assassin’s Creed Unity will release on October 24, 2014 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
