Star Wars Battlefront and Episode VII Aren’t Connected for Release Date

Electronic Arts’ earnings call has brought forth a lot of things to talk about, first there was the delay in the Battlefield 4 Final Stand DLC, then the new Peggle game announcement and now we have another clarification for you.

EA has clarified that the release date of Star Wars Battlefront is not going to be tied with the release of Star Wars Episode VII the film.

Well, if you want me to be precise, they said that the two were not ‘directly tied,’ and you can make of it whatever you want.

The executive vice president of Electronic Arts Studios, Patrick Soderlund was briefing the investors about their upcoming project when he said:

We’ve shown parts from the game today, so you know that what we’re building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made.

Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn’t say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn’t say that [the release date is] directly tied to it.

He said that they wanted to make sure that people can celebrate the history of Star Wars with the game at the same time when the game presents itself as a complete experience on its own.

We have been told in the past that Star Wars Battlefront was going to be released close to the release of the movie but now that the movie has been delayed, I think they are considering sticking with the previously expected dates. What do you think?
