Largest LGBT Guild Holds Virtual Parade in Final Fantasy XIV to Celebrate Same-Sex Marraiges

The original decision of cutting back the same-sex marriages in Square Enix’s Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn received a lot of hate and criticism, forcing the company to reverse its decision.

Last month, during special E3 Final Fantasy XIV livestream, the game’s producer Naoki Yoshida stated that there won’t be any restrictions on people pledging their love or friendship on the same-sex:

We discussed it and we realized…why should there be restrictions on who pledges their love or friendship to each other? And so we decided to go this way.

In order to celebrate the alteration of the decision and as a token of gratitude for Naoki Yoshida, The Rough Trade Gaming Community (presumably, the world’s largest LGBT guild) organized a virtual ‘Pixel Parade’ in Final Fantasy XIV.

Accompanied by several other LGBT guilds on the server, the event was one of its kind with in-game characters dressed in colourful clothes and merrily marched through the world of Eorzea.

Although it’s not much, but this inspiring little feat depicts what people want. Do you think this will inspire companies like Nintendo to change their stance and offer the same-sex marriages in games like Fire Emblem and Tomodachi Life?
