Microsoft Job Cuts Lead to Shut Down of Xbox Entertainment Studios, Will Halo be Affected?

Microsoft is planning to lay off around 18,000 employees! As a part of the Microsoft job cuts process, the Xbox TV i.e. the Xbox Entertainment Studios are being shut down completely.

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox has confirmed that the Microsoft job cuts have led to a major shift in the organizational structure and one of the first blows will be given to the Xbox Entertainment Studios:

“As part of the planned reduction to our overall workforce announced today and in light of our organization’s mission, we plan to streamline a handful of portfolio and engineering development efforts across Xbox. One such plan is that, in the coming months, we expect to close Xbox Entertainment Studios.”

Wait, wait. This doesn’t affect Halo TV or Halo: Nightfall folks so put down your ram machines! Nancy Tellem and some other personnel are being kept to oversee that the programs go on as planned.

Of course he clarified that the restructuring in lieu of the job cuts is internal to Microsoft so their ‘app partnerships with world-class content providers bringing entertainment, sports, and TV content to Xbox customers around the world are not impacted by this organizational change in any way.’

We had reported previously that this was going to be the biggest slimming down process that Microsoft has had since a long time. Based on Satya Nadella’s comments and a couple of rumors it was further reported that software testers, overlapping divisions with Nokia, engineering and marketing division were expected to be hit.

What kind of an impact do you think the Microsoft job cuts will have on the future of Xbox now that the Xbox Entertainment Studios are being shut down completely? Voice your opinions below.
