Breaking Down Dishonored 2’s Never-Ending Rumor Mill

By   /   Jul 15, 2014

Before we begin, let me tell you that I’m a huge fan of Bethesda’s Dishonored and I would love to see a sequel, but the number of fake leaks that we’re getting these days is beyond absurd!

The rumor mill has been running since March this year and suggested a new title dubbed as Dishonored 2: Darkness of Tyvia which was supposedly scheduled for E3 2014 reveal. Everyone knows how far that went! There wasn’t even a remote mention of Darkness of Tyvia, let alone Dishonored.

And to be honest, I wasn’t even hoping that such a title will pop its head, considering the fact that unreliable informant wasn’t sure that the material he was sharing was from an internal Bethesda slideshow or an E3 Press Sheet.

Now that we are done with E3, NowGamer is on spree of leaks, babbling all sorts of rumors regarding the game’s new setting, new protagonist, new location, and new development team.

These Recent Leaks suggest that Emily Kaldwin (The young empress after the death of her mother in the original Dishonored) will take up the role of Corvo.

This is some piece of news (Pun intended)! I mean, anyone who had completed the original Dishonored could’ve speculated this. Besides, the leaker doesn’t even have anything to back up his/her claim.

A recent addition to these rumors is from VG247 who have received an Official Cover Art for Playstation 4 and you bet it looks original!

Dishonored II

The ‘Dishonored II’ is written in the same font which was used in the original game, except that it has been filled black. The Roman figures for ‘2’ are mirror images of ‘I’ from Dishonored font. And the logo has been erased from different areas to add more originality.

Behind the logo, you will see a black/white silhouette of the Assassin Mask that Corvo used in the original Dishonored. My best guess is that he must’ve handed over the mask to Emily before dying.

Everything aside, our informant does have decent Photoshop skill. Just giving credit where it’s due.

Here’s to hoping that this leaker gets at least one thing right and we might see Dishonored sequel at Gamescom, this August.
