The International 2014: Day 1 Results are Here

By   /   Jul 11, 2014

This year Valve has changed the tournament format a bit to include a bracket system that will determine seeding for the “Main Event” to be held next Friday. The format will have a single 16-team round-robin stage followed by two days of playoffs that will determine which teams make it to the main event.

It’s referred to as Phase Two and in this 16-team group stage each team will play a best-of-one match against everyone. The top two teams from here will advance to the Upper Bracket of the Main Event, eight teams will move to the third playoff stage and six teams will be eliminated. It will take place from July 9th through July 12th, with over 120 matches being played in the span of four days.

There’s still a lot of matches to be played and hence a lot can happen. Currently Cloud 9 is holding its authority on everyone with an impressive 4-1 lead. In their footsteps are iG, ViCi, Va’Vi, Na’Vi.US and Liquid; all of which are tied at 3-1. Amongst them Team Liquid has been the most surprising since they were seeded through the wild-card and went toe against toe with some of the best Dota 2 teams around the world.
