Evo 2014 Tournament is Being Sponsored by Nintendo as Well

The Evo 2014 tournament is going to be held between July 11 and July 13, 2014 in Las Vegas – hell yea! However, there is something interesting brewing up there.

Nintendo is going to be one of the official sponsors of the tournament.

Do you remember last year’s Evolution Championship Series? That was when Nintendo pretty actively tried to kill off Super Smash Bros. Melee stream in the tournament. Now, it seems that they have come a long way and decided to actually become one of the supporters of the plan.

D’Ron Maingrette an e-sports caster took to his official Twitter profile to report on the list of sponsors where Nintendo sits politely among other names like Twitch, Xbox and Bandai Namco Games.

The list has been taken from the official website.

That being said, this is the complete list of official sponsors for Evo 2104 as per the website:

  • AKSYS Games
  • Arc System Works
  • Arcade Shock
  • AreYouGaming.com
  • Atlus
  • Bandai Namco Games
  • Broken Tier
  • Eighty Sixed Clothing
  • Gaming Generations
  • IGN
  • Skull Girls
  • Mad Catz
  • Nintendo
  • Frame Link
  • Qanba
  • Sirlin Games
  • SNK Playmore
  • Twitch
  • Udon Entertainment
  • Xbox

The inclusion of Nintendo in the list of Evo 2014 sponsors is quite surprising because they were so adamant over pulling the plug on the Super Smash Bros.

Melee stream last year that it took a lot of hue and cry from the fans before they backed out from it.

Games being played at the tournament this year include Super Smash Bros. Melee, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Killer Instinct, Injustice: Gods Among Us, King of Fighters XIII, and BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma.

Are you ready for Evo 2014?
