FIFA 14 and EA Sports UFC Demo Charges Due To System Error, Says EA
The Xbox One community went up in flames yesterday when they discovered EA to be charging for what should be free demos of FIFA 14 and EA Sports UFC. Playable demos of both were listed on the Xbox Marketplace for $4.99 and from the looks of it, that wasn’t even going to be adjusted if you opted later to purchase the full game.
EA has sent out a statement today clarifying that the whole thing was the result of an “error in the system” and that the prices should rest back to free within the next 24 hours. Interestingly though, the error isn’t on the PlayStation Network or if it was, it had been rectified quickly.
While EA didn’t mention it, anyone who ended up paying $4.99 for the demo will probably get a refund through the correct channels. Then again, is there even anyone that desperate to be paying money for a playable demo?
The demo for EA Sports UFC was launched early last month for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and pits Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson against each other. The title was released June 17 on both consoles.
The FIFA 14 demo on the other hand was released last year in September and then was released at the end of the same month for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The next-gen version was then later launched alongside the new consoles.
