The Division on PC to Look Better, If Not The Same

In the past Ubisoft has taken a lot of flak for its poorly optimized PC ports. The company though went up a notch this year with Watch Dogs where they allegedly toned down the PC version’s visuals just because it “cares about performance.” Clearly Ubisoft never got the memo of actually providing game options for the PC community and let them decide what visual features they want activated.

Ubisoft’s next game on the horizon is The Division, an action-strategy MMO that so far is looking achingly beautiful. Concerns though were raised if Ubisoft would once again opt to gimp the PC version, just so that all the platforms are considered equal.

According to Game Director Ryan Barnard, fans have nothing to worry about. In a video interview with Angry Joe, he said that upon release The Division will look exactly the same on a high-end PC as it does now.

“We get that a lot,” he said. “I think the problem with having an engine like Snowdrop where the graphical fidelity is so high, that of course you’re going to have those concerns. You know, we’re working really hard, especially this year, what we brought is the look that you’ll have on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. PC might even be able to push it.

When asked about game modes, Barnard revealed that they could consider a Survival Mode if the community really wants it. The mod would lay a lot more importance on finding food, water and ammunition.

The Division is looking for a release next year on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
