XBlaze: Code Embryo Gets Super Vague Developer Diary

By   /   Jun 5, 2014

Publisher Aksys Games has put up the first developer diary for XBlaze: Code Embryo, a mysterious visual novel based on their BlazBlue fighting game series. It will be narrated shortly by Toshimichi Mori.

Mori is the main writer and producer for XBlaze: Code Embryo. In the clip, Mori tries to discuss what connects the two worlds, that of the game and BlazBlue. It’s rather esoteric, but at least that also keeps players in suspense for the novel.

For instance, a goal would be to figure out how exactly the position of the two worlds are linked, when seeing the XBlaze: Code Embryo story. Lines may not cross how you’d think.

A reason why this is so vague is so that newcomers to the series could also enjoy the game. Even if you know nothing about Blazblue, you should be able to jump in on XBlaze: Code Embryo.

Furthermore, Mori seems rather enthusiastic about the nuance between terminology used in BlazBlue and how it may differ from that in XBlaze: Code Embryo. Your guess is as good as ours though.

This release’s lore is set 150 years prior to that of BlazBlue. It still maintains the same visual style and all, so expect some clean but flashy anime scenes on your screen.

XBlaze: Code Embryo will release on Playstation 3 and PS Vita on June 27, 2014. Until then, you can find a short demo on Playstation Network.

Preorders for the game are running at $39.99.
