Sad news for Xbox One owners who were expecting to sink their teeth into Quantum Break this year. Remedy Entertainment has revealed that its upcoming third-person time-travel shooter will officially release for the Xbox One sometime in 2015.
Creative director Sam Lake also announced that both Microsoft and Remedy will be showcasing the “time-amplified action gameplay” of Quantum Break for the first time at Gamescom 2014. The event will take place in Cologne, Germany, from 14-17 August.
A video released today features some new gameplay footage which will be enough to sustain Xbox One owners until the Gamescom reveal. It’s disappointing to know that the game isn’t being featured at E3 2014, but the developer or publisher probably has a good reason why.
Quantum Break isn’t your average third-person shooter title. The game will blend live-action sequences with regular gameplay. A Quantum Break television series is also in production, where “how you play the game impacts the show, and the show informs how you play the game.”
According to Lake the game is divided between “cinematic action” and “top of the line live-action” sequences.
“The game is about heroes. The show is about villains,” he said. “In the game, you play Jack Joyce in a desperate fight to stop the fracture that threatens to cause the end of time. In the show, in the style of an edgy modern TV series, you follow the schemes and power play inside Monarch, the corporation that’s Jack’s main enemy.”
Quantum Break was announced last year at E3 and so far has everyone hooked. The upcoming Gamescom reveal will most probably have more people board its hype train.
